Calheiros Cruz - Thirty Years of Passion, Dedication and Enthusiasm mark our history
In 1982 José Carlos Calheiros Cruz, born in a family of Douro winegrowers, retakes the family tradition and builds a modern winemaking center in Régua, in the Douro Region . In 1985 he starts the production of bottled wine, with the ambition to make his brand wellknown all over the world.
In 2001 with the support of renowned winemaker Anselmo Mendes, his work began to be recognized internationally , and the company Calheiros Cruz was considered the "Winery of the Year " by the American magazine " Wine & Spirits".
With the death of her husband José Carlos in 2002. Madalena Calheiros Cruz assumes the leadership of the company, with the passion of her husband and continuing his values and purposes.
The company launched in 2010 the wine Calheiros Cruz Memórias, a Great Reserve of limited edition as a tribute to the founder of the company and his work.
Result of the expansion of the business, the son Miguel Calheiros Cruz joined his mother, keeping this family business evolving towards the future.
