Casa de Cambres
The Casa de Cambres (house of Cambres) is an historic villa located in Cambres – Lamego, in the heart of the Douro Wine Region. Built in the 1920s decade of the last century, it is designed in Art Deco style, so in vogue by that time. It had been fully restored as a country house in 2014, thoroughly respecting the original architecture, to which we added all the amenities any Douro visitor expects and deserves.
This is a house of epoch, typical of Douro region and perfectly integrated in the landscape between the high and terraced vineyards, on the left bank of the Douro River and near the mouth of Varosa. Within a radius of 5 km you can reach the historic city of Lamego or arrive to Peso da Régua – the capital of Port Wine.
Accommodations are split into two cottages (the East House and the West House). The East House is a 2-bedroom plus 1 with kitchen and living room, and a large outdoor space with garden and barbecue, ideal for family living. The West House is a 3-bedroom with kitchen and living room, with an outside porch with barbecue. On the ground floor – the coolest in the villa – you can visit the cellar (by appointment) with towering vats and casks of aging port wine, adjacent to the granite mills, where the traditional treading of grapes during the vintage takes place.
