About:
Originally from alentejo,José António Soraes introduced the olive oil producing business in his family, during the early 20th century. His passion for the business led him to build a lagar (olive presser) next to Evora's city wall, now a residential area of the city (which still exists as part of the ruins of the wall). The intention of this construction was not for production in great number, but of quality. Over the gerations the estate was divided among family members and due to the incompatability of professional life of the heirs and the olive oil business, the production slowly extinguised and led mainly to raising cattle.
Some years passed by and in the beggining of 21st century, one of the descendants, Rodrigo Cordeiro da Silveira, bets on the business of olive oil production of high quality with called D'oliva.
